Katsucon is proving to be one of the best cons I've ever been to, time and time again. I'm excited to go for years to come (as long as it's at the Gaylord, looool). I had a wonderful time and was really excited to see everyone! Cosplay-wise, everything ran smoothly and it was an easy and comfortable weekend. The weather was pretty nice for the time of year, so we got lucky again!

Here's the lowdown for how my weekend unfolded!!

Thursday

I left in the late morning, and arrived at the Gaylord around 4PM. Didn't really do much, so mostly just relaxing in the hotel room and food. Everyone in the room (~bluucircles, ~skei, ~neoangelwink, and ~Athena1chan) made it in safely!

Friday

In the morning, I suited up in my teashop!Zuko costume. I felt like the scar took longer than last time to do, like an hour and a half, but in the end was basically on par with last Katsu when I first wore the costume. Spent much of the day floating between groups of friends, which is the best way to spend a con, right? Hung with ~Sky-too-high and her brother for a bit, ran into *bratkartoffel and the gals as well, then some quality time with ~shinigamiclover. Later met up with ~cafe-lalonde, !jaypoynotgpoy, ~Kusariku, ~Skwinky, *shadowhearts and the gang and had dinner at Nando's (the chicken place)-- then we sat down for drinks at the lobby bar, along with ~bluucircles. Much fun was had, and ~Sky-too-high joined us and snapped the Polaroid below. Definitely a stupidly good night with wonderful people.

Saturday

Woke up bright and early for a morning shoot with ~skwinkography for my Ivan costume, which was a lot of fun (as always). Stuck around for ~bluucircles's shoot, and then we did some general hanging around the con center. Very happy to hang around with dem-hips in her awesome Dragon Kid!! ;__; Congrats again on the big win in the Hall Costume Contest! Joined in the Tiger & Bunny group gathering photoshoot. T&B fans are some of the greatest people! That was actually a lot of fun, did lots of photobombing, and didn't get sucked into any pairing shots, A+!! More general con-going, don't really recall specifics? At night, me and ~bluucircles ended up having dinner just the two of us because we couldn't find any other friends available!! Lame! But, dinner at the Thai place was really delicious, after a million years of waiting. Our night got cut a little short (lulz), but was okay since much packing needed to be done.


I was photobombing people all day, but this time ~spikensalem manages to photobomb me and dem-hips!

Sunday

Sunday I wore Mashiro Moritaka (Saiko) from Bakuman, my first closet cosplay in a million years! I did have to alter the dress shirt, though, and cut/style the wig. Along with that, I also drew a lot of manga pages from Detective Trap for props, which you can see samples of here. Had a wonderful shoot with ~HeadphonesStudios! We just hung around until it was time to leave, and said all the goodbyes. ALL OF THEM. Shortly after 3PM we taxied to Union Station, where I separated from the NYCers and headed home to Philadelphia. It was freezing on the bus, but made it home in one piece.

Again, I'm so glad to have seen so many friends! And glad to have at least run into: *nightkinks, ~spikensalem, ~Mostflogged, ~HeavenSealed, and anyone new I met, or those who I don't know their dA or tumblr! >.< I had a really good time, and wish it could've lasted longer! So sad to say goodbye to everyone! Now I'm plugging away at work this week, hardly being able to concentrate on anything. I just want to look for con-photos!!

I can't wait for next year's Katsucon, but next on the horizon is AnimeNext and Otakon. Boy, do I have a lot of work cut out for me...
